At the AAU annual convention in October, the age determining date was changed for girls basketball. It was moved from January 1 back to July 1. This will result in about half of all girls being able to repeat the age level they played in during 2007. The other half will move up one age level. The change was made so that school teams would not be split up.
To determine what age level your team members are eligible to play in, go to the national AAU web site - www.aausports.org . Click on Sports Home Pages, then Girls Basketball and the link called "What age division am I in"? Enter a birthdate and it will come up with an age.
Keep in mind that girls can still only play in one age level tournament and that a girl can choose to play up an age level.
Iowa AAU Lillian Whiting Awards Banquet (Iowa AAU Outstanding Athlete Banquet) will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at the HyVee Hall on 3rd street in Downtown Des Moines connected to the old Vets Auditorium and the New Wells Fargo Arena.
The banquet begins at 11:00 a.m. with the presentation of awards followed by lunch. Awards will be presented in the sports of boys basketball, girls basketball, baseball, trampoline/tumbling, gymnastics, track and field, volleyball and wrestling.
Also presented is the Vic Young Award for the Iowa Outstanding Amateur Athlete.

There are two (2) different membership application forms: one for the youth athlete and a different one for non-athletes (coaches, adult athletes, and volunteers). Please make sure that you use the correct membership application when applying for your 2008 AAU Membership.
